I'm going to start using this "Rocky Mode" technique. I think I'll dedicate Fridays to "Rocky Mode" since it seems to be my toughest day. This could make a good difference.

XHTML was put into a limbo state where browsers and users didn't really have to use it correctly. They were asked nicely to do xhtml right, but for the most part did not. IE6 didn't even bother rendering xhtml at all, FF required the proper XML header and %99.99999 sites didn't send the correct XML header. XHTML was not rendered as XML but instead broken HTML.

Look at most page source in FF and you will see the red "/>" marks showing that they should not be there.

Real XHTML is tricky and if you have one error on the page the whole page does not load. I use Genshi as a template engine, which requires real XHTML to run (but renders whatever (X)HTML you wish), desingers are "shocked" when they find out that they really actually have to write XML.

ALL that being said there is still a time when you have to pretend to use XHTML and that is when you are using a different namespace for some elements in your page.

For instance facebooks "<fb:like>" tags.

An excellent article and one that should be essential reading for any non-techie who has to hire a coder.

One question: you say they should craft any HTM in "HTML 4.01 Transitional" - why not XHTML?

Thanks again

I see that many of my modules resemble each other, and could be modified versions of a parent module– as well as find myself visiting 5 different files to include one additional database field and variable input.

Hey Victory,

This is a solid outline here; really nice stuff. The first section doesn't really have a heading though. When it comes to things like badges, classes, etc I refer to them as "Social Opportunity". They allow your site to have an artificial status that can help bolster user morale and create leaders. I know it sounds a little fluffy, but it's the best I've been able to come up with.

Very cool cheatsheet. I especially like your tip 'do like Paris does' as promoting others really does come back and pay dividends in the future.

Filling the pipe is great, but remember you don't have a lack of motivation, you have a lack of focus on your motivation. We all have our motives and motivation for doing things, but it is our focus and energy on those goals that we lose. Filling the pipe can help us regain that focus.

Nice article. Links with external unwanted character do tend to harm the usual protocol of your webpage as well as break the link of that page as well as the site. This in turn is dreadful when you think from an SEO point of view.

Very useful information of how to screen and select a programmer. I like how you put the payment method strategy down there too because it gives more confident and satisfaction to customers. Thanks for the awesome tips!
